My New Ao Dai!

I started out on an adventure to get myself an Ao Dai in time for teachers day and with a little help I was successful. I told my friends Nhan and Nguyet (the girls to my right and my left in the picture) that I wanted to get an Ao Dai and so they took me to a shop called Hong Ha. It is a pretty famous place here in Vinh.

It was a lot of fun to find the right fabric. Here when you pick out a color there are many choices but you must be careful. Because some colors are old colors and some are young colors. I picked out many colors but everyone was too old for me. I think I have an eye for them or something. But luckly I had my friends there to guide me in the ways of Vietnamese color selection. We decided on a beautiful blue fabric with not too many extras on it. Some of the Ao Dai fabrics have so much glitter and sequense on them that you could use them in a Vegas show! I really love my Ao Dai and I feel like it makes me look just a little more Vietnamese.

It was so great to have people come and visit me on Teachers day! These are some of the French teachers that are learning English. I teach them on Thursday afternoons. It is really funny being a teacher to people that are 10 or 15 years older than I am. They are all very sweet and I really enjoy getting to teach this class!
